In Hermann Hesse's novel The Glass Bead Game, the name of the house Belpunt translates to "Beautiful Bridge" (derived from the Romansh: bel = beautiful and punt = bridge).
... "On the note, Tito informed his parents that he had set off very early this morning and was traveling alone to the mountains, where he was waiting for the new teacher in Belpunt . He asked that, before his freedom was so annoyingly restricted again, he be granted this small pleasure, as he had an insurmountable aversion to making this lovely little trip accompanied by the teacher, already as a supervised and imprisoned student..."
... Tito gazed intently at the dark, rocky ridge beyond which the sky undulated in the morning light. Now a small section of the ridge flashed intensely like glowing metal, just about to melt; the ridge became blurred and suddenly seemed lower, as if melting away, and from the glowing gap emerged the dazzling star of the day.
